“Open plan spaces in a single storey ‘lifetime’ house using traditional materials on a garden plot outside village development boundary ”
Many of our clients are older couples who have decided that their current home has simply become too big for them and now is the right time to downsize. Our clients in Somerset own a beautiful period home but they would like to downsize to a single storey oak frame house to reduce the maintenance and effort required to upkeep their home, and wanted a bespoke design and build service.
You enter the house with a grand open plan living space and an oak frame ceiling with sky lights adding lots of character and flooding in light throughout the space. The house includes three bedrooms; the master bedroom with an en-suite and walk in wardrobe, and two more bedrooms with a family bathroom. From each section of the house you walk out onto a timber decking patio, the perfect addition to this bespoke design.
With the generous grounds to their existing property, our clients applied for planning permission to build a 3 bedroom single storey oak frame house on a garden plot and came to us with outline permission.
Our brief was to design a future proof home which would require minimum maintenance, provide a home for an extensive book collection and have a great connection to the outdoors. Planning permission has now been granted.
