Our cost control process gives clients their lifetime home
Our clients held a long-term vision to build an oak framed home and had finally found a property in the ideal location. They had done quite a lot of research in to options for building their new bespoke house. As both are very busy professional people with a young family they felt they really needed to work with a company that would work alongside them throughout the whole of the project.
Having used an oak framing company offering a turnkey service for the initial planning, they became concerned when the costs of the build itself seemed high. They also found the breakdown of costs wasn’t giving them sufficient understanding of where their money would be spent or that everything they needed for completion of the project was included.
Once we started working with the client we evaluated the design and made design changes they felt were necessary. This resulted in a re-submission for planning approval. The previous company had offered an ‘off the shelf’ design with some customisation to suit the client. However, on reflection they felt this didn’t give them quite what they were looking for and if they were going to build their lifetime home they really wanted to get it right.
The house is generously proportioned over 365m2 of internal floor area.
The ground floor comprises a large entrance hall, study, gym and reception room. The open plan kitchen, living and dining space opens on to well connected outside spaces and a large garden.
On the first floor the master bedroom has an en suite and dressing room while two further bedrooms share a Jack and Jill en suite. There is also a large family bathroom.
A second floor accommodates a dual use spare bedroom/cinema room and another en suite.
The demolition of the existing building is taking place and the construction of the new build will start.
